We
do not have a search capability with the Nexrad data to tell us which
storms the Nexrad precipitation alqorithms have estimated total
precipitation of more than 4 inches during a duration of 12 hours or
less. So it would be very time consuming to look through all the
storm total precipitation products for a six month period since we
have to load in about six hours of data into our Principal User
Processor at a time. The Storm Total precipi tat:ion products are
archived every third volume scan by the Nexrad radars or about every
17 or 18 minutes. We need you to give us certain days of specific
events during this six month period that you think your criteria ma-y
have been met. Another question is are you concentrating on a
specific area or region in Colorado? We receivE~ Nexrad data from
three Colorado stations. These stations are Denver CO (KFTG), Grand
Junction CO (KGJX) and Pueblo CO (KPUX). I need to know if' you want to
concentrate the search for these precipitation products from a
specific site such as Denver or if you are looking at the entire
state? The Nexrad Storm Total Precipitation images cost 15 dollars
per image to purchase from us plus a 5 or 11 dollar service and
handling charge. The National Climatic Data Center requires the
prepayment on all orders either with a charge card (Mastercard, Visa
or American Express) or by sending a letter and check through the
mail. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks.

John

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%S,s%%%%%%% %
John Kobar, Meteorologist Phone: 828-271-4800 % %
National Climatic Data Center % %
Federal Building Fax: 828..271-4876 % '6 151
Patton Ave Room 120 % % Asheville,
NC 28801-5001 E-MAIL: orders@ncdc.noaa.gov %
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%~5%%%%%%%

Markus Ritsch

n 1 n

Fri, 10 Apr 1998 13:55:26
