<br />13. IRRIGATION CANAL STRUCTURES.- In the vicinity of station <br />1+00, the r:- igbt Oi;lnk levee wou Id cross the I nfake works of the Las <br />Animas Consol idated Canal. (See plate 2, Intake Structure No. I.) <br />This canal has a diversion right of 124.3, c.Ls. It is proposed to <br />1)10d i fy the structure by the add it ion' of 'facewa I I sand slab' over the <br />ex i st i ng wa II s to carry the necessary levee fill. The three 4- by <br />6-foot wooden sluice gates of the intake structure would be replaced <br />with cast- I ran s I i de gates with manua! lifts to prov I de pas i t i ve <br />closure during floods. Detai Is are shOWn on plate 4. <br /> <br />14. In the vicinity of station 130+00, the right bank levee would <br />cross the Las Animas Town Ditch which has a diversion right of 38 c.f.s. <br />A structure wou,l d be requ i red for passage of i rr I gat i on water, wi th <br />provisions for positive closure during floods. This structure, shown <br />on plate 2 as Intake structure No.2, wou Id consist of adouble 5- by <br />5-foot concrete box culvert 52 feet long equipped with cast-iron sl ide <br />gates'w i th manua I lifts. Concrete headwa I I structures wou 1 d be pi aced <br />on each end of the box culvert. Detai Is of the proposed Intake struc- <br />ture are shown on plate 4. <br /> <br />15. RIGHT BANK DRAIN DITCH.- A drain ditch would be constructed <br />parallel to the right bank levee from station 295+00 to station 458+00 <br />to dra in a II areas be low Area B, as shown on plate 8, append ix B. Th is <br />ditch wou I d have a trapezo i da I cross sect i on, I O-f oat bottom width, and <br />I on 2 side slopes. A berm 30 feet wide would be maintained between <br />the toe of the levee and the ditch. This ditch would have a longitu": <br />dinal slope of 0.001. A typical cross section of ditch and levee is <br />shown on plate 4. <br /> <br />16. INTERIOR DRAINAGE STRUCTURES.- It wou Id be necessary to pro- <br />vide hructuresfhrough the levees to drai n storm runoff intercepted by <br />the' levees.
