<br />FPR 97-443 <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />721 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />March 20, 1997 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Natural Resource Conservation Service prepared a floodplain <br />information report entitled" Floodplain Management Study, Town of Calhan, EI Paso County, <br />Colorado" dated August 1995; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said new report includes detailed floodplain information for Main <br />Tributary, East Tributary and Fairground Tributary within the corporate limits of the Town of <br />Calhan as they were in August 1995; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, as requested by the Town of Calhan, <br />Colorado, designated and approved said report by Resolution No. 97-442 on January 29,1997; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development prepared an <br />approximate floodplain information map entitled "Flood Hazard Boundary Map, Town ofCalhan, <br />Colorado", dated January 17, 1975; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board has never designated and <br />approved the approximate floodplain information included in said FHBM; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Flood Hazard Boundary Map is the effective floodplain information <br />for the Town of Calhan for the purposes of the national Flood Insurance Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Flood Hazard Boundary Map for the Town of Calhan is inconsistent with <br />said detailed floodplain information included in Resolution No. 97-442; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has not corrected the <br />inconsistency between said Flood Hazard Boundary Map for the Town of Calhan and the <br />floodplain information included in Resolution No. 97-442; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to have accurate floodplain information to guide land use and <br />permitting decisions in the Town ofCalhan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; <br />and <br />
