1972 report. The 100-year flood depths of this study for the San
Miguel River range from 4 to 7 feet. The differences noted between the
studies were discussed with Woodward-Clevenger and Associates and it
was agreed that the present Flood Insurance Study is more accurate
because of the availability of more recent topographic mapping and a
better hydraulic model.

The flood studies of Wing Engineering, Inc., and the Institute of
Arctic and Alpine Research contained discharges for Cornet Creek and
the San Miguel River, respectively. Based on a discussi.on with the
regional FEMA Technical Representative, the differences in the
hydrologic results of the above-mentioned flood studies and the current
Flood Insurance Study for San Miguel County were attributed to improved
hydrologic methodologies prepared by the study contractor.

Because of its more detailed analysis, this study supersedes the Flood
Hazard Boundary Maps for San Miguel County.

8.0 LOCATION OF DATA

Information concerning the pertinent data used in the preparat ion of
this study can be obtained by contacting the Natural and Technological
Hazards Division, FEMA, Denver Federal Center, ~uilding 710, Box 25267,
Denver, Colorado 80225-0267.

9.0 BIBLIOGRAPHY AND REFERENCES

1.
