FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose of Study The purpose of this Flood Insurance study is to investigate the existence and severity of flood hazards in the Town of Hayden, Routt County, Colorado, and to aid in the administration of the Flood Insurance Act of 1968 and the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973. Initial use of this information will be t~ convert Hayden to the regular program of flood insurance by the Federal Insurance Adminis- tration. Further use of the information will be made by local and regional planners in their efforts to promote sou~d land use and flood plain development. 1.2 Coordination The U.$. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Geological Survey, the Regional Planning and Coordination Commission of Routt County, the U.s. Soil Conservation Service, the National Weather Bureau, and local officials, residents, and newspapers were contacted to supply maps and information concerning the study. On January 20, 1977, the results of the work by the u.s. Bureau of Reclamation were reviewed at a final community coordination meeting attended by representatives of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the Federal Insurance Administration, and the Town of Hayden. 1.3 Authority and Acknowledgments The source of authority for this Flood Insurance study is the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, as amended. The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this study were performed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for the Federal Insurance Admin- istration, under Inter-Agency Agreement Nos. IAA-H-28-75 and I&~-H-12-16, Project Orcer Nos. 2 and 1, respectively. This work, whicc was completed in December 1976, 88vere6 all flooding sources affecting the Town of Hayden. 2.0 AREA STUDIED 2.1 Scope of Study This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated area of the Town of Hayden, Routt County, Colorado. The area of study is shown on the Vicnity Map (Figure 1).
