Army Corps of Engineers
Sacramento District
650 Capitol Mall
Sacramento. CA 95614-4794

Dear Jerry:

This Board has worked with the Town of Lake City, Colorado
on a number of flooding problems and studies. The town is
subject to flooding from two streams, North Fork of the
Gunnsion River and Henson Creek. I feel that Henson Creek
poses an immediate flooding threat. In addition, the town has
experienced flooding from the creek in the past.

The USDA-SCS' February. 1987 snow report indicates an
above-average snowpack for the subject basins. The existing
levee system does not provide much flood protection to the
town_ Under the Corps new PL 84-99 provisions, the town may be
eligible for levee repair and emergency assistance funds. From
our engineering investigations, a feasible project does exist
which will provide the community with direct benefits to life
and property. A copy of the town's letter request is
enclosed. If you need additional information, I will be happy
to respond.

Sincerely,

D~:d[~1'H'!

/) ,~J- .'
'r .A 1/, .,."'
. <..i.J '-:rt.-~.j ( l- \..

r
TU

Larry F.
