<br />. <br /> <br />6. Fountain Creek, a northbank tributary of the Arkansas River, drains <br /> <br />the northeast sector of Pueblo through a series of small ephemeral, and <br /> <br />unnamed trib\1taries. On both the eastern and "estern sides of the '''ater- <br /> <br />shed, ground cover is predominately sage brush, cactus, and native grasses. <br /> <br />The flood plain is comprised of narro,,-strip irrigated farms, clumps of <br /> <br />cottom70od trees, salt cedar, and other thick undergro"th. <br /> <br />7. The remainder of North Pueblo and most of South Pueblo is drained by <br /> <br />streams that contribute runoff to the Arkansas River. Principal among <br /> <br />these tributaries are Hild Horse - Dry Creek, Dry Creek, and a series of <br /> <br />unnamed streams that drain into Lake Hinnequa. The streams of Puehlo's <br /> <br />south"est section are small and ephemeral and become undefined "ithin the <br /> <br />city limits. <br /> <br />8. Hild Horse - Dry Creek is a northbank tributary of the Arkansas River. <br /> <br />. The "atershed has a drainage area of about 86 square mi.les. Hithin the <br /> <br />roughly rectangular "atershed; elevations vary from 6,000 feet near the <br /> <br />head"aters to 4,700 feet at the mouth. <br /> <br />9. 'The separate ephemeral streams, Hild Horse Creek and Dry Creek origi- <br /> <br />nate in the foothills of the frontal range north"est of Pueblo and flm. in <br /> <br />a southeasterly direction to join near the Wild Horse. subdivision community <br /> <br />located approximately 2 miles north"est of the city. A half-mile downstream <br /> <br />of the confluence of tVilliams Creek "ith \,ild Horse - Dry Creek,d:he stream <br /> <br />ente rs Pueb 10' s north"est residentia 1 area and then proceeds through the <br /> <br />existing commercial and railroad development complex to discharge into the <br /> <br />Arkansas River. <br /> <br />2 <br />
