The source of all this data was the ,official U. S.
Geological Survey water supply papers. Table 8 presents the list of streamflow measuring
stations from which all correlations and data extension were performed. This table also
shows the drainage area contributing to the measuring point and the period of recorded
peak flows available at the respective station.

IMPACT OF TAYLOR PARK RESERVOIR

The construction of the Taylor Park Reservoir near Taylor Park (completed Sep-
tember 1937) has had an effect on the peak flows downstream of the reservoir. Stream-
flow records at gaging stations affected by Taylor Park Reservoir were adjusted to reflect
the natural flow conditions that existed prior to the construction of the reservoir.

The effect of the Taylor Park Reservoir on flows of Taylor River at Almont gag-
ing station were analyzed. Streamflow records at the Almont sl'alion are available for years,
1913, 1916and 1914 through 1974. Mean annual daily peak flow before 1938 was
found to be 2,142 cfs, while the equivalent number after 1938 was found to be 1,365
cfs. Naturally, all of this change cannot be atributed to the construction of Taylor
at Almont
Park Reservoir. To detennine that portion atributed to the reservoir, Taylor Rive~stream-
flow records were compared with records of the East River at Almont for comparable periods
before and after 1938. From this analysis it was found trat approximately 28% of the de-
crease in flows of Taylor River at Almont can be atributed to the construction of Taylor
Park Reservoir. Simi lor analysis was perfonned to adjust the streamflow records at the
following gaging stations: Gunnison River near Gunnison; Gunnison River at 1010; and
Taylor River below Taylor Park Reservoir.

-5-
