<br />e APPENDIX B - SAMPLE PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT <br /> <br />In the event of a flood,a public information statement should be issued. The following <br />statement can be used for broadcast. The frequency of dissemination of the statement will be the <br />decision of the Fremont County Emergency Management Director. The Director should issue the <br />statement and if necessary notify the Red Cross. <br /> <br />This is (Name, Fremont County Emergency Management Director). At (time, date), the <br />National Weather Service Office in Pueblo announced a flood stage for the Arkansas River at <br /> <br />Canon City at (time, date). The River is expected to peak at (Canon City gage reading in feet) at <br /> <br />(time, date) in Canon City. We expect the flood to reach Canon City at (time, date). <br /> <br />Residents and workers along the Arkansas River should move to high ground immediately. <br />All people in (name of color zone(s)) are advised to raise and remove contents of their properties, <br />and/or evacuate (immediately or by time, date) to (name of shelters) for temporary shelter. In the <br /> <br />event you choose not to go to the shelter, please call the American Red Cross in Canon City at 275- <br />e 3333 so that we know you are safe. <br /> <br />We will keep you informed throughout this flood event and will update this announcement <br /> <br />as new information becomes available. <br /> <br />REPEAT the statement at least once more. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />B-1 <br />
