FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Purpose of Study

This Flood Insurance Study revises and updates a previous Flood
Insu<ance Rate Map for the Town of Estes Park, Larimer County,
Colorado. This information will be used by Estes Pa<k to update
existing flood plain regulations as part of the regula< phase of
the National Flood Insurance Prog<am (NFIP). The information will
also be used by local and regional planners to further p<omote
sound land use and flood plain development.

In some states or communities, flood plain management c<ite<ia 0<
regulations may exist that are more restrictive or comprehensive
than the minimum Federal requirements. In such cases, the more
restrictive criteria take precedence and the State (or othe<
ju<isdictional agency) will be able to explain them.

1.2 Authority and Acknowledgments

The sources of autho<ity fo< this Flood Insurance Study a<e the
National Flood Insu<ance Act of 1968 and the Flood Disaste<
Protection Act of 1973.

The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this study were
perfo<med by Ginge<y Associates, Inc., fo< the Fede<al Eme<gency
Management Agency (FEMA) , under Contract No. H-4017.
