I, It is the responsibility of the Contractor to provide adequate protection against damage to structures adjacent to the flume during all phases of construction. The Contractor's attention is directed to the soils report prepared for this project. Soil information made available to prospec- tive bidders shall be for informative purposes only and shall not be con- sidered as part of the Contract Documents. Soils information was devel- oped as accurately as possible by the methods utilized. The City of Ouray accepts no responsibility for conditions encountered which may vary for the information provided. Copies of the report are available through the City of Ouray. 2. Utility locations, as shown on the plans, were compiled based on the best information available. Utility locations are not intended to be exact or complete, The Contractor is responsible to determine the location and elevation of all utility line crossings and relocate them underneath the proposed flume as necessary. Concrete encasements shall extend to the limits stated in the Contract Documents. 3. Twelve-inch PVC pipe shall be installed and capped with push-on cap or push-in plugs at the locations shown on the Drawings for future utilities. 4. Vertical control is based on benchmark elevation 7800.86 stamped on the brasscap monument placed in the west end of the south wall of the Beaumont Hotel. Horizontal control is based on state plane coordinate grid. Project survey control points are shown on the Drawings. Construction staking is the responsibility of the Contractor. Construc- tion staking shall be performed under supervision of a land surveyor registered in the State of Colorado. 5. A preconstruction conference shall be held prior to commencement of construction. Attendees shall include representatives of the Owner, Engineer, and Contractor. Items to be discussed at the conference will include methods for maintaining drainage, protection of existing struc- tures and utilities, responsibilities of the Engineer, and all other per- tinent items of discussion. 6. Right-of-way is shown on the Drawings as are any construction easements. The Contractor shall confine his operations within these limits. If the Contractor desires additional construction easements for his convenience, he shall obtain these additional easements at his sole expense. Easement agreements made by the Contractor shall be submitted to the Engineer prior to entry into these areas. 7, Where submittals are required in the Contract Documents. the Contractor shall make such submittals to the Engineer for approval at lease three calendar weeks prior to beginning work on affected items. The Engineer shall review and return the shop drawings with comments noted within eight calendar days. after receipt. -----" "', ,."
