WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood
Hazard Information, Animas River and Hemosa Creek, Hemosa,
Colorado," dated October, 1977, has been prepared by the United
States Amy Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District,. at the request
of La Plata County and the Animas Regional Planning Commission; and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and infomatin for the stom and floodwater runoff channels or
basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of La Plata
County has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to desig-
nate and approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid
report; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in
the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris-
may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any
floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and
by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and
approve stom or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make
such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdic-
tions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and
does hereby recommpnd to theColoradQ Water Conservation Board that
the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas
inundated by a lOO-year flood (intemediate regional flood) as
described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in said
report;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conser-
vation Board in regular meeting assembled in Montrose, Colorado, this
12th day of May, 1978, that it does hereby designat~ and approve as
floodplain areas those areas described as being inundated by a 100-
year flood as set forth in said report; and
