6. NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM INFORMATION

Cillnmunity Participation in NFIP

Both the City of Sterling and Logan County are participants in good st2lnding with the NFIP. Neither
community is under investigation for non-compliance issues which, if verified could result in their
being placed on probation or suspension with the NFIP.

Relation of Project Site To FEMA1'Ioodplain

Most of the City of Sterling is within designated Zone A and/or Zone X. 'The most recent Flood
Insurance Rate Map has an effective date of Septemb(,r 29, 1989. The FIRM maps have been
reproduced as Figure 14. This figure is a compost of FIRM Panel Numbers 080294 000 I C (City of
Sterling) and 080110 0330B, 0340 13, 0325 B and 0335 A.(Logan County). It must be noted that the
City rests near the confluence of several major drainageways, and the FIRM reflects the total impact of
these drainageways. Improvements proposed with this analysis address only the flooding caused in the
City by the Pawnee Creek overflow which historically has been the source of greatest impact to the
City.

~p Compliance

Both the City of Sterling and Log,m County are in compliance with NFIP as demonstrated by the
letters included in Section 4, Tab 3.

JII-43
