Slhultz <br />[:II'I"(UII\{' Ditecwr <br /> <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br />RE: <br /> <br />Bill Timmermayar ~ ~"_ ' <br />Kent Gumi na /) ~ ~~ <br />November 14, 1989 <br />Loo Lane VillaQe'5 Amended Impact Request <br />(EIAF #2002) <br /> <br />***************************************************************** <br /> <br />Per our conversation, please find enclosed a copy of the Town of <br />Log Lan~ Village's amended Impact A55i5tance grant/loan reque5t. <br /> <br />As you are well aware, a d9cision on Log Lan~'s water <br />improvements project was deferred in liQht of th~ ColoradO Water <br />Conservation Board's concern that the proposed project may not <br />re501ve the Town's iron bacteria problem. <br /> <br />In the interim, the Town and its'engineer (Rocky Mountain <br />Consultant5) have been working with Mr. Herman Wooten of the <br />Colorado Rural Water A55cciatlon to further evaluat~ the Town's <br />options in terms of addresBing the iron bacteria problem. <br /> <br />As a re5ult, the Town proposes to superchlorinat~ its entire <br />water system (well and distribution line5). <br /> <br />In addition, the Town plan~ to clean its distribution mains and <br />.ervice lines lpolypig and swabs) and install perman~nt access <br />pOints in the distribution system for future cleaning, The <br />cleaning of the distribution mai~s and service lines, and the <br />in!&tallation of the access points were added since the original <br />application was submitted fOr the November, 1988 review cycle. <br />Apparently, Mr. Wooten and Rocky M~untain Consultants believe <br />that thR above-described process will enable the Town to <br />minimize future problems with iron bacteria. <br /> <br />The Town of Limon has also experienced iron bacteria problems <br />with its water system; and, according to Mr. Del Beattie, Town <br />Manager, Limon has been able to successfully manage its iron <br />bacteria probl~ms with regularly-scheduled system c1eanings. <br />
