As an organization whose goal it is to <br />facilitate the fast and efficient provision of earthquake information, the MCEER Information <br />Service, endeavors to tailor information products to meet the needs of the earthquake <br />community, a multidisciplinary group of widely varying interests and needs, The community <br />includes researchers, practicing engineers, students K-12, college, graduate and postgraduates, as <br />well as social scientists psychologists, and those in the private sector. This poster session will <br />outline how the MCEER Information Service determines the needs of users and how we filter <br />and determine what information to include in products, Two products that are designed <br />specifically to meet user needs will be featured: <br /> <br />. E-News: An electronic current awareness service that sends subscribers current <br />information via e-mail or current meetings and projects, new publications, calls for <br />papers, and technical reports, based on their self-defined user profiles, <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's): Earthquakes in New York State: An <br />electronic information packet designed to provide information on earthquakes in New <br />York State and earthquake resistant design in general, based on the New York State earth <br />science curriculum and the expressed needs of students, teachers, and librarians. <br /> <br />Demonstrations and handouts will be provided. <br /> <br />e <br />
