This <br />discharge far exceeded the 500-year recurrence interval event. <br /> <br />Previous Studies <br />The original Flood Insurance Studies for unincorporated El Paso County and the incorporated <br />communities included in the August 23, 1999 revision were completed between 1984 and 1986. <br />Numerous Tevisions to the studies for unincorporated El Paso County and the City of Colorado <br />Springs preceeded the current effective study. A complete history of these revisions and details <br />of the various studies and data sources upon which they were based is provided in the 1999 FlS <br />report. <br /> <br />Communitv Response to the CWCR Desienation and Approval Process <br /> <br />Letters regarding the CWCB's proposed designation and approval of the August 23, 1999 FlS <br />were sent to El Paso County and the incorporated communities included in the FlS. The County <br />and each of the incorporated communities were also contacted by phone to discuss the <br />designation process and request community input. All communities contacted were receptive to <br />the designation process, though not all returned letters requesting designation. Copies of the <br />request letters that were received are included in the Appendix of this report. <br /> <br />None of the communities contacted requested a meeting to discuss the designation process or <br />floodplain issues and none were held. <br /> <br />3 <br />
