WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood
Plain Information, Brecke~idge, Colorado, Part I - Blue River, and
Part II - French, Illinoisf I,ehmanf and Sawmill Gulchesf" dated
1975, was prepared by Leonard Rice consulting Water Engineers, Inc.,
at the request of the Town of Breckenridge and the Colorado Water
Conservation Board; and

WHEREAS, the colOrado Water Conservation Board, as
requested by the Town of Breckenridge, by Floodplain Resolution
Number 48, adopted January 14, 1976, approved and designated the
floodplains described in the 1975 report; and

WHEREAS, a new report entitled "Flood Insurance studYf
Town of Breckenridge, Colorado," which includes floodplain informa-
tion and data for the Blue River, Illinois Gulch, Lehman Gulch, and
Sawmill Gulchf dated December 1979, has been prepared by Gingery
, Associates, Inc., under contract with the Federal Insurance
) Administration; and

WHEREAS, said new report describes and outlines the
floodplain data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff
channels or basins of the study area; and '

WHEREASf the Town of Breckenridge has requested the
ColoradO Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the
floodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (l), ColoradO Revised Statute's
1973f requires the ColoradO Water Conservation Board to assist in
the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado
Revised statutes 1973f provide that such legislative bodies of
local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses
on or along any storm Or floodwater runoff ,channel or basin only
after designation and approval by the Colorado Water conservation
Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (I) {C)f Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, directs the ~olorado Water Conservation Board to
designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins
and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of
local jurisdictions; and
