Future plans to widen and re-route the highway
should utilize the hydrology and preliminary design data presented on this
sheet in engineering the final design. Until this crossing has been improved,
the area between North Ford Street and State Hi ghway #93 will remai n subject
to flooding. Floodplain regulations should be strictly enforced until the
hazard has been effectively el~minated.

ITEM

COST

Channel Improvements
Street Crossings
Utility Relocation

$ 13 ,000
45,000
-0-

Subtota 1
Contingencies (15%)
Engineering, Legal & Administrative (15%)

58,000
8,700
8.700

The channel ization shown from State Highway #93 to the old channel of
Cressmans Gulch is a conceptual alignment proposed by the developer. Alter-
native alignments may be considered as development plans proceed. Key points
to keep in mind are that: 1) the existing condition forces 100-year flows to
split downstream of State Highway #93, 2) the floodplain east of the abandoned
railroad grade should be eliminated, 3) the existing homes east of North Ford
St reet must be protected from fl oodi ng, and 4) any channel i zat i on work pro-
posed will be the responsibility of the developer. A possible channel
configuration is shown on the plan drawing, with provisions for maintenance
access whi ch coul d serve also as an extens i on of a planned trail s system.
Drop structures will be required to maintain an acceptable stream gradient.
The cost estimate which follows does not include the developers cost for
channelization.

TOTAL CONSTRUCTION COST

75,400

TOTAL CAPITOL COST OF IMPROVEMENTS

75,400

TOTALS IN EACH JURISDICTION

City of Golden
Jefferson County

16,900
58,500

Grade stabilization structures are recommended to maintain the existing
channel and reduce degradation problems which may occur. The channel
improvement cost estimate relates to the 3 structures shown and not the
planned improvements upstream. The general recommendat i on for grade
stabilization is consistent with downstream reaches.

Annual Operation and Maintenance Costs

(2,000)

The recommendation for this reach includes the enforcement of floodplain
regulations and continued participation in the National Flood Insurance
Program. Pri vate property owners who are currently impacted by the 100-year
floodplain should be encouraged to acquire flood insurance.
