The lower portion of Kenneys Run from 20th Street to its
confluence with Clear Creek is, for the most part, confined to a storm sewer
system capable of carryi ng I ess than the 2-year frequency runoff, assumi ng
fully-developed conditions.

The West Fork Kenneys Run drainageway consists of an open channel with small
capacity culverts for the 23rd and 24th Street crossings. Larger flows will
separate from the major drainageway, becoming tributary to Jackson Street and
affecting numerous residential properties. Upstream of 24th Street, the
Golden High School is impacted by flooding.

As described previously, the lower portion of the East Fork Kenneys Run from
20th Street to Jackson Street is storm-sewered with Ford Street providing the
primary conveyance area for flood flows. The flood hazard is compounded by a
small capacity inlet (24" CMP) at the upper end of this reach. Upstream of
Jackson Street, flood flows escape the ditch along South Golden Road impacting
the street and some commercial property. Where the ditch area widens between
South Golden Road and the abandoned Interurban Rail road grade, flood flows
become confined to public R.O.W., impacting primarily undeveloped State-owned
property of the Lookout Mountain School for Boys. The abandoned Interurban
Railroad grade, which intersects the floodplain, has a small capacity outlet
forcing major flows along the south ditch of the railroad grade and over the
embankment. Upstream of the railroad grade, the Boys School Road constitutes
a low road grade crossing of the floodplain with a small capacity culvert and,
therefore, is subject to relatively frequent overtopping and potential
washout.

More detailed information regarding existing flood hazards on Tucker Gulch and
Kenneys Run is included in the Flood Hazard Area Delineation Report.

111-4
