<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />EXERCISE AND INSPECTION OF EMERGENCY OPERATING CENTERS (EOCS) <br /> <br />Emergency Operating Centers must be exercised and inspected <br />annually to ensure their operational integrity. <br /> <br />The following items or systems should be checked and/or operated <br />in an Emergency operating Center (EOC) activation and/or <br />incorporated in an exercise. <br /> <br />1. The Emergency generator should be operated under load to <br />demonstrate to the emergency staff what equipment is operated by <br />the standby power systems. The status of the fuel systems should <br />be checked at the same time. <br /> <br />2. All pumps, fans, lights, outlets, etc., on the standby <br />power system should be checked. <br /> <br />3. Filters on air handling equipment should be checked and <br />cleaned or replaced as necessary. <br /> <br />4. All plumbing in the EOC should be checked after the <br />standby water system is operational (faucets, showers, toilets, <br />and drains). <br /> <br />5. <br />tested, <br />task in <br /> <br />Food preparation facilities should be checked and <br />i.e., prepare a meal using the staff assigned to that <br />an emergency. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Bunking provisions should be checked for adequacy. <br /> <br />7. All communications and warning systems and equipment <br />should be checked. <br /> <br />8. All necessary equipment, supplies, and maps should be <br />located in the operations room. <br /> <br />The accomplishment and reporting should be the responsibility of <br />the Emergency Management Assistance (EMA) persons in charge of <br />operations. The EOC inspections should be accomplished by EMA <br />staff in concert with the FEMA program mangers. <br />
