e

e

e

F

January 13, 1998

Ms. Peggy Bailey
Project Engineer
Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
P.O. Box 219
Glenwood Springs, CO 81602

Subject: Hydraulic Model Data and Map Below Four O'clock Road, Sawmill
Gulch, Breckenridge, Colorado

Dcar Ms Bailey:

] finally got somc time and put together some additional information on Sawmill
Gulch for your use. As I indicated on the telephone, this data was prepared for
~llbmittal to FEMA, but was not sent in with the rest of the data FEC prepared for
the Town of Breckenridge, under direction from Dr. John Liou, the FEMA Regional
Hydrologist/Hydra ulie Engineer.

Thc map is at 50 scale, and shows the I-foot contours in grey, the lO-foot contours in
red, the cross sections in green and the floodplain widths at each section in cyan.
This map does not attempt to interpolate the position of the floodplain boundary
bct\\'een sections.

The profiJe~ are a plot of the 100-year water surface elevation for Sawmill Gulch at
the computed now of 130 cfs that was used in our study. We calculated that only 130
efs would stay in the channel immediately below Four O'clock Road, although at least
~Oll1e of the flow might return prior to the downstream end of the study reach. This
return now was not added back into the channel flow for our work. These profiles
were prepared using the same software used by FEMA's technical contractor, but are
not official FEMA profile plots. A sheet that shows the relation between the letter
and number cross section designations is also included in this transmittal.

I hope that this information is helpful on your project. Please feel free to give me a
call if you need anything else. 1 can be reached at (303) 278-0622, Ext. 141.

Sincerely,

vJ~'>>1.~

Thomas M. Rossillon.
