.

e

e

FLOODPLAIN REPORT - Tyra Tract D and Sawmill Gulch, Breckenridge, Colorado

Finally, it should be noted that the Town of Breckenridge ultimately intends to connect a
continuing storm sewer system to the eastern end of the Type R structure to provide an
underground storm sewer system that conveys water eastward along Four O'Clock Road towards
the Blue River. Specific design criteria have not yet been defmed. For now, however, the water
will discharge to the shoulder area of Four O'Clock Road as would occur in the pre-project
conditions. The existing roadside swale is capable of accommodating the flow in the vicinity of
Tyra Tract D.

MISCELLANEOUS CONSIDERATIONS

The structures proposed will be maintained by the Town of Breckenridge as part of their

stormwater system. A letter to that effect is included herein as Attachment E.

The collection system structures are likely to operate infrequently. Flows approaching the 50-
year event are necessary to provide sufficient flows to overtop the banks of Sawmill Gulch.
During smaller, more frequent events, only minor, essentially negligible flows from tributary
areas will reach the system. Approximately 1/3 to 1/2 acre of undeveloped land drains to the
upper collection system and its 48-inch pipe, and the lower collection system has no tributary
area.

Ice or snow accumulations are possible, as with any system at over 9,000 feet in elevation.
However, winter conditions are likely to provide only negligible amounts of "frequent" flow to
the structures. Major events, such as the 50-year storm or greater, are most likely to occur during
spring snowmelt or summer thunderstorms, generally periods when ice is not a severe problem.
Should significant blockage occur, the Town maintenance personnel should clear the system as
they do for their existing storm systems.

No existing sedimentation problems have been identified on Sawmill Gulch, and therefore no
future problems are anticipated.

971-055.010

Wright Water Enginee~, Inc.

Page 19
