<br />Page 19 <br /> <br />TABLE VII <br />ALLOWABLE DEPTH OF FLOW IN STREETS <br /> <br />Allowable Use of Streets for Initial Storm Runoff In <br />Terms of Pavement Encroachment <br /> <br />Street Classification <br /> <br />Maximum Encroachment <br /> <br />Local <br /> <br />No curb overtopping. Flow <br />may spread to crown of <br />street. <br /> <br />Collector <br /> <br />No curb overtopping. Flow <br />spread must leave at least <br />one lane free of water. <br /> <br />Arterial <br /> <br />No curb overtopping. Flow <br />spread must leave at least <br />one lane free of water in <br />each direction. <br /> <br />Major System - The major system shall be based on design storm <br />of one hundred (100) years. Planning and design objectives for <br />the major drainage system as to public streets shall be based <br />upon the following limiting criteria. <br /> <br />Major Storm Runoff: Allowable Street Inundation <br /> <br />Street Classification <br /> <br />Allowable Depth <br /> <br />Local & Collectors <br /> <br />Residential dwellings, public, <br />commercial, and industrial <br />buildings shall not be <br />inundated at the groundline, <br />unless buildings are flood- <br />proofed. The depth of water <br />over the gutter flowline <br />shall not exceed eighteen <br />inches (I8"). <br /> <br />Arterial <br /> <br />Residential dwellings, public, commercial, <br />and industrial buildings shall not be inun- <br />dated at the ground line, unless buildings <br />ace flood proofed. Depth of water at the <br />street crown shall not exceed six inches <br />(6") in order to allow operation of emer- <br />gency vehicles. The depth of water over <br />the gutter flowline shall not exceed eigh- <br />teen inches (18"). <br />
