EIS-10

SmaH Business Administration (SBA) Loans

The SBA basic loan may cover the implementation of proven mitigation
measures for homes and businesses through its disaster loan program,

The cost of mitigation repair measures reauired by local codes, including
the elevation of substantially damaged buildings to Base (1 OO-year) Flood
Elevation and relocation outside the floodplain, can be included in the
basic SBA disaster loan. SBA will normally require a written statement
from the local government to verify this requirement. In addition, non-
code required mitigation measures will be considered eligible where the
cumulative cost of such measures does not exceed 20% of the basic
loan amount. SBA was provided with a list of proven mitigation
measures. The list was prepared by the OES/FEMA Mitigation Team to
facilitate the mitigation effort.

I'

..JJ....J 'Y/f;t;,.J;- R.,-t
:JJ"""'I 1995
