the public accurately and promptly of the needs for stormwater management problems
and, programs, and convince them that stormwater management is everyones responsi-
bility, in varying degrees. Without support of the local public, very little can
be accomplished. A public information program should be developed in most munici-
palities. This would be of great help in alerting the public, the news media and
the public officials about stormwater needs and other needs of a city, county or
metropolitan area. The program should include news releases, a speakers bureau
made up of private citizens as well as public officials and city or county staff,
displays in public buildings such as municipal buildings, banks, libraries, etc.
and any other method that will attract public attention. Individuals should be
encouraged to take an active part, and their ideas and suggestions should be given
careful consideration. This program should be ongoing and used to inform people
of problems, proposed solutions and progress, in a timely manner.

A "Reminder". Local governments have the principal responsibility for
stormwater management, and are the key to success.

REFERENCES

1.
