WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood
Hazard, StUdy, 'Chalk Creek in Chaffee County, Colorado,"
dated July 19BO, has ,been prepared by the u.S. Department of
Agriculture, Soil Conservation 'Service,at the request of
Chaffee County and the ColoradO Water Conservation Board1 and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floOdplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff
channels or basins of the study area 1 and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Chaffee
Couhtyhas requested the Colorado Water Conservation ,Board to
designate and approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the
aforesaid report1 and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado R~vised Statutes
1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist
in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom1 and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-2B-lll, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legialative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zoniAg regulations for land uses on
or along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only
after designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board 1 and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate
and approve storm or floodwateJ:" runoff channels or basins and
to make such designations available to legislative bodies of
'local jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and
does hereby recommend to the colorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those
areas inundated by a 100-year tlood (intermediate regional flood)
as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles
in'said report;
