Some safety considerations are listed below: <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Safe access and safe working conditions must be provided at all work areas. <br />Unstable bluffs must be graded to a safe slope. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />A first aid kit should be <br />perform the work required. <br /> <br />available. A checklist <br />of the Important items are described below. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Start a pictortal record with pictures of existing conditions. <br />through al I stages of construction. <br /> <br />Continue this <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Establ Ish elevations of known points, layout line, and grade for construction. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Note changes In the terrain that may require a change In the plan or the layout of <br />construct Ion. <br /> <br />* Check material sources for campi iance with plans. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Inspect work to Insure campi lance with plans. <br /> <br />* Record dimensions, limiting heights and depths on as-bul It plans. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Maintain a pictorial record throughout the life of the structure particularly <br />after damaging storms. <br /> <br />B. PERMIT REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Federal and State permits are required prior to the construction of any work In, under, <br />across, or on the banks of navigable waters of the United States. All modifications of <br />these areas are regulated by Section 10 of the River and Water Act of 1899 and Section 404 <br />of the Clean Water Act. A permit is required to Install property protection and/or <br />reclamation devices such as rlprap, breakwaters, jetties, etc. Regulatory Functions <br />Branch of the US Army Corps of Engineers" upon request, will furnish application forms" <br />Instructions, and other technical assistance needed. <br /> <br />9 <br />
