COMMENTARY Station 420+00 to Station 480+00 300 feet downstream of 1-70 to 1800-feet dO\\l1stream of West 44th Avenue Portions of Reaches II B & III A COST ESTI:1ATE Station 420+00 to Station 480+00 CONSTRUCTI ON The floodplain management strategy for this segment is Floodplain Preserva- tion. Channel modifications by the Colorado State Division of Highways (CSDH) have been constructed as part of the 1-76 project east of Wadsworth. Channel Improvement Costs Channel-Crossing Costs The City of Wheat Ridge Johnson Park occupies the southern portion of the floodpl ain west of Wads\ll)rth. Upon completion of the I-76/Wads\ll)rth inter- change, the vehicle maintenance access and trail 1 inkage to Wads\ll)rth will be el iminated because of steep topography. A new access route from Wads- worth has not been resolved. The floodplain west of Wads\ll)rth Blvd. will remain in its present configuration and will need to be regulated by the City of Wheat Rid8e. The structures remaining within the floodplain may be candidates for floodproofing, for acquisition in the event of substantial flood d<rnage and for flood insurance. No major drainageway improvements are recommended in the reach which has been channelized by the CSOH.
