This
memorandum serves as a summary of the Town's assumed position on the designation based on
discussions with local officials,

Mr, Joel Megger, Director of Utilities and Public Works, was contacted in November regarding
the floodplain designation. There are two primary flooding sources in Superior: Rock Creek and
Coal Creek. He is not aware of any problems with these maps, Rock Creek is all one
development which did not allow development in the FEMA floodplain. Coal Creek is
-developing piecemeal and may cause more problems over time. Taggart Engineering is
conducting a study of Coal Creek floodplains that could result in remapping of floodplain
boundaries,

At the request of Joel Megger, Mr, Mike Galuzzi of McLaughlin Water Engineers, was contacted
in November, 2000 and March, 2001. Mr, Galuzzi conducts most of the Town's drainage work
and would handle submittal of the designation request letter. Mr. Galuzzi indicated that a
restudy for Rock Creek and Coal Creek was conducted by Taggart, but the restudy has not yet
been approved by FEMA (it was submitted 4 years ago). Mr. Galuzzi does not have any
problems with the June 1995 study, but would like the designation amended when the restudy is
accepted, He indicated that the designation request letter would be submitted, However, at the
time that the report was completed, the letter had not been received.
