<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />EXIDBIT "A" <br /> <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br /> <br />COMMUNITY OF WELDONA <br />MORGAN COUNTY, COLORADO <br />Flood Hazard Mitigation Feasibility Study <br /> <br />December 1, 1997 <br /> <br />Contractor <br />For the purposes of this project, the consulting engineer (Contractor) shall be the firm of WRC <br />Engineering. Inc.. a Colorado corporation. The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) is <br />the project owner. The maximum State funding to the Contractor for this project is $20.490. Of <br />the total state funding, $14,000 shall be used for engineering services, and $6.490 shall be used <br />for surveys and mapping. <br /> <br />SUmmary of Requested Work <br />The Contractor shall perform field investigations, technical analyses, report writing, and other <br />tasks necessary to complete selected portions of the desired engineering project. The engineering <br />project for this Scope of Work is the Flood Hazard Mitigation Feasibility Study (Project) for the <br />community of Weldona, Colorado. Completion of this project will be performed through a <br />cooperative effort by the Contractor, the CWCB, and the Omah.a District of the U.S. Army Corps <br />of Engineers, and Morgan County. Project assignments and responsibilities are outlined in a later <br />section of this Scope of Work. <br /> <br />Authoritv <br />According to Section 37-60-106(l)(c) of the Colorado Revised Statutes, the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board has the power and duty: <br /> <br />"... to devise and formulate methods, means and plans for bringing about the <br />greater utilization of the waters of the state and the prevention of flood damages <br />therefrom. . ." <br /> <br />Proiect Location <br />The project area is located in northeastern Colorado. Weldona is an unincorporated community <br />within Morgan County, which is approximately 12 miles northwest of Fort Morgan. A vicinity <br />map of the Weldona area is attached as figure I. <br /> <br />Watershed DescriDtion <br />The watershed of interest is the Schaefer Draw basin, which is within the South Platte River basin. <br />Weldona is located approximately 0.5 miles north of the main channel of the South Platte River. <br />Schaefer Draw, a left bank tributary to the South Platte, has a total drainage area of about 7 square <br />miles at its confluence with the South Platte River. However, two irrigation canals, the Riverside <br />Ditch and the Weldon Valley Ditch, which are north of Weldona and run parallel to the South <br />Platte, historically have intercepted the natural flood flows from Schaefer Draw before the flows <br /> <br />I <br />
