STATE OF COLORADO

EXECUTIVE CHAMBERS

136 State Capitol
Denver, Colorado 60203-1792
Phone (303) 666-2471

.

September 1B, 1995

Michael J. Armstrong
Regional Director
Federal Emergency Management
Region VIII
P.O. Box 25267
Denver, CO 80225-0267

Agency

Dear Mr. Armstrong:

I am pleased to transmit Colorado's revised Wildfire Hazard
Mi tigation Plan. The plan has been developed and updated
according to the 1994 FEMA-State Agreements for the Wake
Complex Fires (FEMA-CO-2098-FSA), for the South Canyon Fire
(FEMA-CO-2099-FSA), and for the Roxborough Complex Fires
(FEMA-CO-2102-FSA).

This plan represents the commitment and effort of entities
concerned with wi ldfire protection and safety throughout
Colorado. I support its conclusions and recommendations as
a critical element in Colorado's future. Periodic meetings
among state agencies and others will continue to encourage
wildfire mitigation and assess progress on its
implementation.

I am asking citizens, agencies and elected officials in the
state to continue implementing their parts of this plan. I
will continue to work with all of them to reduce the
wildfire threats and make Colorado a safe place to live and
visit.

Roy Ro
Govern

;:

RR/dy

Enclosure

Roy Romer
Govetflor
