ABSTRACT

This report presents the conceptual and preliminary design for the

flood control improvement alternatives selected to mitigate flooding pro-

blems on Lee Gulch and Little Creek.

A detailed cost estimate of the improvements is presented in the

report. The total capital cost of the improvements is estimated to be

$512,000 for Lee Gulch and $4,220,000 for Little Creek. The following

alternatives were selected after evaluation of the Phase A report:

LEE GULCH

Flood plain zoning of the lOa-year flood plain
Flood insurance
- Construction of a maintenance access trail
- Select channel improvements and erosion protection
- Side channel spillway on Highline Canal to seperate irrigation and
drainage flows

,

LITTLE CREEK

Flood plain zoning of the lOa-year flood plain
Flood insurance
- Open channel through downtown Littleton
- Relocation of the City Ditch
- Open channel and improved crossings from Lake Street to Apache Street
to convey the 5-year flood
- Detention facility at Little's Creek Park
- Improved crossings at Broadway and Santa Fe to convey the lOa-year flood
- Flow seperation structure at the Highline Canal
- Relief drain upstream of the Highline Canal to protect up to the
5-year flow
- Select improvements on existing detention facility at Clarkson
and Geddes

).
