These connections must withstand the <br />loads so failure of the elevated foundation design <br />does not Qpcur. <br /> <br />Horizontal Beam <br />The total load on a horizontal beam is based on <br />vertical support spacings, wind and roof live loads, <br />as well as manufactured home width. The bolts <br />connecting the horizontal beams to the vertical <br />members, as shown in Figure 4.47 must be <br />capable of carrying that load, thereby transmitting <br />it to the vertical member. <br />Tables 4.21 and 4.22 provide the recommended <br />number of bolts and their diameter for each <br />horizontal beam to vertical member connection. <br />These values are based on design values for <br />bolts loaded at both ends with loading perpen- <br />dicular to grain for wood having a design value <br />of 890-970 psi in wet service conditions. Note that <br />all bolts must be of corrosion resistant metal and <br />bolt holes drilled to one-sixteenth inch diameter <br />greater than the required bolt diameter.
