<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />............';'i': <br /> <br />::;,i :;:~~:~;~ ~ <br /> <br />Figure 3.37 Anchoring on Post or Pile <br />Foundation <br /> <br /> <br />Figure 3.38 Frame Ties <br /> <br />In all cases the intent of anchoring is to ensure <br />the manufactured home does not become dis- <br />lodged from the elevated foundation due to the im- <br />pact of wind forces, <br />The type and number of manufactured home an- <br />choring connections for elevated post and pile <br />foundations is presented in Chapter IV, <br /> <br />EVACUATION <br /> <br />The temporary relocation of manufactured <br />homes from a flood-prone site prior to flooding has <br />been practiced successfully in some areas, as <br />shown in Figure 3,39, Such action may be a viable <br />strategy for manufactured home parks or subdivi- <br />sions that were established prior to the availabil- <br />ity of flood elevation data, where manufactured <br />homes are below the base flood elevation, <br /> <br />Figure 3.39 State and Local Evacuation Plan <br /> <br />However, it must be recognized that this pro, <br />cedure is heavily dependent on the mobility of the <br />manufactured home and requires an extremely <br />comprehensive evacuation strategy, In addition, <br />flood insurance coverage under the NFIP may not <br />be available for manufactured homes which have <br />either not been elevated or properly anchored in <br />accordance with the community's adopted or- <br />dinances for participation in the NFIP, <br />It is important that a plan to relocate manufac- <br />tured homes during a flood event be coordinated <br />with and involve local emergency management <br />authorities, It is crucial that an evacuation strategy <br />be pre-planned, that is, the procedures must be <br />developed and in place prior to a flood being im- <br />minent. Also, such a plan is ideally executed as <br />a group effort rather than as an individual <br />endeavor so that "logjams" and civil disorders can <br />be avoided or minimized, <br />A primary and major consideration in develop- <br />ing an evacuation plan is the availability and <br />capacity of 'evacuation routes and temporary <br />storage areas, It is absolutely critical that the <br />movement of manufactured homes will in no way <br />interfere with any concurrent evacuation of in- <br />habitants of an area threatened by flooding, This <br /> <br />31 <br />
