It is 250,0 feet west.northwest of Ihe center of the crossing of State Highway 82, 228,0 feet wesl- <br />northwest of railroad milepost 385, 108,3 feet east of the center of Ihe bridge over Ihe Roaring Fork <br />River, 6,07 feel south of the near rail, 1.3 feet north of Ihe southern edge of the abutment, 1.0 feet <br />southwest of a witness post, 0,7 feet east of Ihe west edge of Ihe abutment, about 2,0 feet below the near <br />rail and at Bridge 384A over the Roaring Fork River and the siding at Wingo, <br /> <br />SECTION 3 - FLOOD HISTORY <br /> <br />This section of the report also includes information concerning basin hydrology, including flood flows <br />computed by the U,S, Army Corps of Engineers by analyzing Ihe stream gage records, <br /> <br />4, <br /> <br />NAME <br />0158 <br /> <br />ORDER <br />SECOND <br /> <br />ELEVATION <br />6,640,81 <br /> <br />To understand the history of channel instability and its occurrence on Ihe Roaring Fork, the hislory of <br />flooding was documenled using USGS gage records, Flooding has occurred on the Roaring Fork River in <br />the years 1912, 1914, 1918, 1921, 1952, 1957, 1958, 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1995, Ruedi Reservoir dam <br />construcled in May 1968 on the Fryingpan River has significantly reduced the peak flood discharges on <br />the lower Roaring Fork River. The recent flooding in the spring 1995 was roughly estimated as a one in <br />fifty year event in Aspen and a one in twenly-five year flood event further down valley, <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />A standard disk, stamped G 158 1934 and set in the lop of a concrete post It is located 7,6 miles <br />soulheast from Carbondale, in Eagle County, 7,6 miles southeast along the Denver & Rio Grande Western <br />Railroad from the stalion at Carbondale, Garfield County, 190 feet soulheast of the cenler of a road <br />crossing, 45 feet eaSI of a residential home, 30 feet southwest of the centerline of the track, 6 feet <br />northwest of an east fence comer, and 3,5 feet northeast of the fence, <br /> <br />3.1 Gal!e Records <br /> <br />There are only four aClive USGS gages located on the main stem of Ihe Roaring Fork River. Three other <br />gages have existed in the past, but are no longer active, although records from those gages are useful.
