Oct-09-96 14:06 HENZ METEOROLOGICAL SRVC. 303-458-5309

P.03

.

page two

of the rainfall data as prepared recently for the USGS after the Virginia Canyon
Flash Flood of August 18, 1991. HM~ will prepare spreadsheets of the rainfall
and radar data coverage for basin areas in Excel 7.0 for Windows 95 format on
1.44MB, 3.5 inch floppy' disks for each of the three events.

The time periods of rainfall re-constitution for each of the three ev~nts is based
on ar~.illed.radar data based on the ev~nt ~ence: .... .

1. July 12: 1211917Z to 1310047Z;.. the antecedent moisture storm periods

2. July 12: 1310053Z to 0533Z....the flash f1oodil1g storm period

.

3. AlJgust 7/8: 7/1938Z to .7/2043Z and 812055Z to 812224Z: two consecutive
.' days of Int~n~ storms ~erporticms of the basins q .
.. '. - . .' .'.. ". . .---:-........
". .. ...- .,- .
4. August 23: 2001Z to 2309Z

Please note that HMS will be re-cons~ituting rainfall during all of the above time
periods and a clearer picture of the contribution of antecedent moisture to either
the occurrence or non-occurrence of flash flooding in the basin may be gained.
HMS will prepare a final report which presents a description of the .
meteorological sub-cloud and cloud layer weather factors which produced the
event, storm-tracks of the stOrm's radar ech9 movementlcoverage-across the
basins and figur9$ of the -time distribution and intensity of the associated rainfall.

The cost of each re-constitution varies by the amount of radar data which will be
analyzed for each of the three event dates. The table matrix of <<csts below
identifies the cost foreach~~aOd the number of hOU.rs of radar data .
.. analyzed. Please note that a fower cost per event cost IS offered for the election
of re-c;:onstitution of all three events. . The costs of the individual events reflect
the number of - 6-minute radar-rainfall periodS involved and basin coverage
factors which varied considerably with the five events.

'.

$3,000
$4,500
$1,500
$2,000
. $,9500 15% discount
