I viewed the video tape and the documents that you left with me, and I was very
impressed by Woodward-Clyde's knowledge, involvement, and interest in pre- and post-fire
mitigation strategies. I believe that a comprehensive hazard mitigation document, as we
discussed, would be a very useful tool for Colorado's Front Range and other communities.

Our staffs primary purpose for developing a mitigation plan for the Buffalo Creek area is to help
reduce the hazards associated with post -fire floods and debris flows. The report produced by our
office will also discuss other aspects of pre- and post-fire mitigation to the extent possible. I will
be happy to send you a copy of the final report when it is completed. Rest assured, Woodward-
Clyde will be acknowledged in our document as a contributor to the effort. Thanks again for
your helpful information. I have enclosed one of my business cards as you requested.

Sincerely,

~~ //
~/.. -~:::..

Thomas W.
