<br />News - Department of Natural Resources <br /> <br />Page 1 of I <br /> <br />e <br /> <br /> <br />News about Colorado's Natural Resources <br /> <br />COLORMX> 7/112002 <br />iiiiil Executive Director's Office <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND <br />SHELL TEAM UP TO REFOREST COLORADO <br /> <br />OOPAlU'MENT Of <br />NATURAL <br />RESOURCES <br /> <br />New web site will allow online donations toward reforesting burnt areas <br /> <br />DENVER - On the heels of Governor Bill Owens' announcement of a $50,000 donation by Shell Oil <br />Company for Colorado's lire relief efforts, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Executive <br />Director Greg Walcher was joined at a press conference by Rich Hanson of Shell today to <br />announce the creation of a Web sne where online donations can be made for reforestation projects <br />throughout the state. <br /> <br />"We all know the immediate dangers that follow major burns like Hayman and Missionary Ridge.. <br />said Govemor Owens. .With this new Web sne, those wanting to help can quickly and easily make <br />donations to help us regain one of our most treasured resources." <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The Web sne - www.reforestcolorado.org - was put together through a joint effort by DNR and Shell <br />as a way for people to contribute toward the huge costs associated wnh reforesting thousands and <br />thousands of acres in Colorado. The funds that are raised will be spent by the Colorado State <br />Forest Service on various reforestation projects around the state. Walcher .said that the joint effort <br />is one in which Coloradans and people from all over the country can participate. <br /> <br />"Finding the necessary funds to respond to these enormous fire disasters is a real challenge for <br />us," said Walcher. "Donations from caring citizens and responsible business interests go a long <br />way in helping Colorado get back on its feet."
