People moving into <br />these areas are lured by the <br />opportunity of being close <br />to nature. Problems brought <br />about by the influx of <br />people are not just fire- <br />related. Small communities <br />being developed in forested <br />areas are complete with <br />forest insect/disease, <br />vegetation management, <br />and urban forestry <br />concerns. Unfortunately, <br />many carry their expectations of urban services with them. A few interface activities have included: Wildfire Hazard Mitigation Forester <br />contracts in Jefferson, Clear Creek, Swnmit, and Larimer Counties; administration of a FEMA <br />mitigation grant; state fire hazard mitigation grants to counties to accomplish specific projects; <br />participation in development of local interagency mitigation groups, <br /> <br />More information on mitigation activities in Colorado: <br /> <br />.
