Local <br /> <br /> <br />residents said "This one was slightly larger than the June 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />or June 1942 flood". consequently. the July 1989 flood is <br /> <br /> <br />consider.ed the "flood-of-record." <br /> <br />FLOOD AREAS <br /> <br />The floodwaters upstream of County Road No. 11 were of <br /> <br /> <br />moderate velocity which resulted in considerable streambank and <br /> <br /> <br />overbank flood damage. Those damages consisted of streambank <br /> <br /> <br />and channel erosion. agricultural damage. and county road and <br /> <br /> <br />hr.idge losses. Downstream of County Road 11. the velocity <br /> <br /> <br />began to lessen. which led to minor str'3ambank and charwel <br /> <br /> <br />er.osion. and much broader overbank flooding. The entire Town <br /> <br /> <br />of Paoli was inundated - See Plate 5 for flood depths. These <br /> <br /> <br />flood depths were determined by Phillips County, <br /> <br />-8- <br />
