There were insurance <br />claims to be filled out and filed, fire plugs dug out. <br />Buddy Burns of the water department mentioned plugged sewer lines, overtime <br />labor, pumps and chemicals needed, grit and mud in the digestors, requiring more <br />frequent cleaning. This is contracted out, usually done every five years, at a <br />cost of about $30,000.00 <br />In 1981, the new plant was on line, mud had to be pumped and 9 loads hauled to <br />the landfill - at a cost of $100 for dumping, gas, labor $ 200.00 <br />Notification of any problems with water or sewer discharge must be in <br />newspapers and on radio stations. Public announcements were made regularly <br />during the clean-up times, by all city departments. <br />The fire department lists 315 hours of work in 1981 as follows: <br />1904 Midland - divert water pump water 62 hours <br /> <br />2103 Blake - pump water 26 hours <br />2102 Bennett - pump water 29 hours <br />24th Street, Springsteel Apartments - pump water 42 hours <br />9th Street - pump two basements 36 hours <br />Lincolnwood - divert water 16 hours <br /> <br />hand work <br />CMC, 1402 Blake - divert water, sand bag <br />7th & Blake and Bennett - assist with overflowing storm drains <br /> <br />12 hours <br />14 hours <br />9 hours <br />
