Prior to conducting this
program, it is essential that the InstlUctor read and understand the InSliuctor Guide and have
the necessary course materials.

Visuals for this program are available in a several formats. Black and white overhead paper
masters have been included with this package for the field production of transparencies. For
more formalized presentations, a set of 35 mm. color slides is available. InstlUctors should
feel free to include locally produced visuals to illustrate local conditions or systems. The
tailoring of this program to meet the individual needs of the community is encouraged and
will make the presentation more meaningful to the pm1icipants.

A reproduction master for a handout is included in the Appendix of the InstlUctor Guide.
Although originally designed to be double side printed on folded 11 x 17 common bond, it
may be printed either single sided or double sided on standard 8.5 x 11 copy paper, and
stapled together. No matter what format is used, this handout provides a ready reference for
the program panicipants and is an imp0l1ant pan of the program. The insttuctor should
obtain sufficient copies of this handout for disttibution at all training programs.

Other supplies required to conduct this program in a safe and efficient manner include: an
overhead or slide projector with spare bulb, extension cords, projection screen, and duct tape
to secure loose cords. Optional supplies may include a p0l1able sound system, locally
produced handouts and directions, and a pointer. The insttuctor should be prepared to
conduct this program under a variety of conditions, many of which may be difficult. For
example, a training program may have to be held on the apparatus floor of a local fire house.
Equipment, such as projection screens, may have to be improvised using white sheets or
other devices. Some instlUctors have even conducted expedient training programs outdoors.
No matter what conditions arc encountered, the instlUctor must remember to always conduct
themselves and the program in an efficient and professional manner.

v
