I
,I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

21

concrete arch culvert under the C80S Railroad. The addition of these pipes wlll have

a dramatic effect on the water surface elevations upstream of the railroad and on

the Bruchez property.

The water surface elevation between the railroad and Wadsworth Parkway would be

5353.0. Just upstream of Wadsworth Parkway, the water surface elevation would

be 5356.0 due to backwater from the culvert under the street. A few hundred feet

upstream of Wadsworth Parkway the water surface profile begins to rise because

the slope of Big Dry Creek controls the depth of flow. These reductions in water

surface elevations due to the future Improvements will also remove the Bruchez

property from the floodplain.

CONCLUSIONS

1. The Bruchez property Is located south of Big Dry Creek and west of Wadsworth

Parkway.

2. The 1973 report of Wright-Mclaughlin Engineers indicated that most of the

Bruchez property was outside the floodplain of Big Dry Creek.

3. The 1986 FHAD study of Greiner Engineering Indicated that most of the Bruchez

property was within the floodplain of Big Dry Creek.

4. The 1973 and 1986 studies were conducted using different assumptions on two

Important points.

a. The depth, duration, and time distribution of rainfall used In the two studies

were based on the then current guidelines of the UD80FCD in effect at the time

the stUdy was performed.
