Oept. of Education <br /> <br />b. Assistance: Project grants to restore public elementary and <br />secondary school facilities. Also available are grents to construct <br />.inimum public schoo' facilities if necessary to take.the place of <br />a destroyed non-public school which will not be replaced. <br /> <br />c. Eligible Applicants: Local education agencies which provide free <br />public elementary and secondary education. end certain other <br />public education agencies which provide technical vocational. <br />or other speciel education to children of elementery or secondary <br />school age. where school facilities are damaged. <br /> <br />10. SCHOOL M~INTEN~NCr AND OPERATION <br /> <br />a. Agency: Dept. of Education <br /> <br />b. Assistance: Grants for maintenance and operetion expenditures: <br /> <br />-- To maintain the level of education which existed before the <br />disaster when a deficiency occurs due to increesed costs and <br />loss of revenue. <br /> <br />-- For edditional tosts to educate thildren who formerly ettended <br />privete schools. <br /> <br />-- For d~bris removal and cleenup. minor repairs to buildings <br />and the repair or replacement of equipment and supplies. <br /> <br />-- For temporary facilities. <br /> <br />c. E'igible App'icants: Local educational agencies which provide free <br />public.elementary or secondery educetion. <br /> <br />11. C~UN1TY DIS~STER lOANS <br /> <br />a. Agency: Federal Emergency Manegement Agency (FEY~) <br /> <br />b. Assistance: Loens not to exceed 251 of the annuel operating <br />budget to any local government which has suffered a subtantial <br />loss of tex and other revenue as a result of a mejor disaster. <br />and hiS demonstrated a need for finencial assistance in order <br />to perform its governmental functions. <br /> <br />c. Eligible App'icents: Local governments only. <br /> <br />12 <br />
