<br />Floodplain Resolution No. 79 <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />September 23, 1977 <br /> <br />RES 0 1 UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Army Corps of Engineers" <br />,Sacramento District, completed in March, 1973, the Flood Plain Informa- <br />tion Report for Grand Junction, Colorado, which included the Colorado <br />and Gunnison Rivers; and <br /> <br />^ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, as requested <br />py the Western Colorado Regional planning Commission, by resolution <br />adopted October 31, 1973, approved and designated the floodplains <br />described in said report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood' <br />Haza+d Information, Colorado River and Tributaries, Grand Junction, <br />Colorado, dated November, 1976, has been prepared by the United States <br />Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, at the request of the <br />City of Grand Junction and Mesa C01.111ty; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or <br />basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the report and ~lood hazard area maps outline and <br />,de!>cribe the revised floodplains o~ the Colorado River from Road 22 to <br />-Road 32 and the downstream 2.0 milt! reach of the Gunnison River; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Coanty Commissioners of Mesa County <br />has requested the Colorado Water conservation Board to designate and <br />approve the floodplain areas as set: forth in the aforesaid report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes 1973, <br />requires the Colorado Water Conse~ation Board to assist in the pre- <br />vention of floods and flood damage5 therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris- <br />dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses o~ or along any <br />storm or f100awater runoff channel or basin only after designation and <br />approval-by-the-Col'orado-Water-co~rvanon Board; ana ---- " <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, directs the Colorado Water conservation Board to designate and <br />approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make such <br />designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions; and <br />
