Sullivan
Chairman, Douglas County Board of
Commissioners
101 Third Street
Castle Rock, Colorado 80104

Community: Douglas County,
Colorado
Community No.: 080049
Panel No.: 080049 0170 C
Effective Date of
This Revision:

JAN 14199.4

102-D

Dear Chairman Sullivan:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective National
Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for your community. Specifically, this
responds to a letter dated April 29, 1993, from Mr. Daniel W. Bare II, P.E.,
Town Engineer, Town of Castle Rock, regarding the effective Flood Insurance
Rate Map (FIRM) for the unincorporated areas of Douglas County, Colorado.
Mr. Bare requested that we revise the effective FIRM to show the effects of
more detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to reflect channel
improvements, culvert construction, and detention pond construction in The
Meadows Metropolitan District along 6400 Tributary East Fork and 6400
Tributary West Fork.

All of the data required to complete our review of this request were
submitted with letters dated April 29 and August 12, 1993, by Mr. Bare and in
a letter dated November 11, 1993, by Ms. Vera Stepanek, P.E., Rocky Mountain
Consultants, Inc. In a telephone conversation on September 2, 1993,
Ms. Stepanek requested that the revision be limited to the effective FIRM
along 6400 Tributary East Fork from approximately 500 feet downstream of
Buena Vista Boulevard to approximately 8,750 feet upstream of Cherokee Drive.

Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) solely incorporates updated
hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to reflect existing conditions, fees were
not assessed for the review.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain
boundary delineations of a flood having a 1-percent probability of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along 6400 Tributary East
Fork from 125 to 775 feet upstream of Golden Valley Trail in the
unincorporated areas of Douglas County. The Special Flood Hazard Area is
decreasing along the county segment.
