plains for waste disposal and the construction of water and sewage

Forecastinq and Evacuation

Accurate, timely forecasting of floods and critical

stream stages, coupled with temporary evacuation and other emergency

actions, can often save lives in addition to reducing property

losses. In the development of local community planning, provisions

should be made for alerting area residents and coordinating opera-

tions of city-county public service agencies throughout the flood
