-
-

.

Gardens in this section, The maximum
depth over the roadway is approximately
three feet.

(12) Station 304 + 00 * - The bridge at Cherry
Creek with a large pipe hung under it
causes channel constriction and flooding
over the bank on the north side of the
channel.

e

( 5) Station 123 + 00 - Flooding occurs over
the Lincoln Street bridge.

.

( 6) Station 126 + 00 - The water surface is
approximately one foot over the banks and
bridge at Sixth Avenue,

(13) Station 350 + 00 - The channel bank is
overtopped at Holly Street.

(14) Station 355 + 00 The water surface
above the drop structure is approximately
one foot above the channel banks.

.

( 7) Station 135 + 00 - Flooding approximately
one foot in depth occurs at the Grant
Street bridge.

(15) Station 382 + 00 The water surface
above the Monaco Blvd, bridge is approx-
imately one foot over the bank on the north
side.

.

( 8) Station 140 + 00 to 147 + 00 - The water
surface is approximately one foot in depth
over the bridge at Logan Street and the
banks in this section,

(16) Station 387 + 00 - The flood plain from
Goldsmith Gulch on the south side of
Cherry Creek causes extensive flooding due
to a lack of channel capacity on Goldsmith
Gulch.

.

( 9) Station 177 + 00 - The water surface in
this section above First A venue is approx-
imately one foot over the road and flooding
occurs on the golf course.

~

(17) Above Station 387 + 00 - The width of the
existing channel, and the reduced capacity
of flow required above Goldsmith Gulch,
enables the channel to generally contain
the 100-year flood, Minor flooding occurs
into a gravel pit at Station 500 + 00.

(10) Station 205 + 00 - Flooding occurs on the
golf course on the south side of the
channel.

~

(11) Station 220 + 00 - Flooding occurs into
Cherry Creek Drive on each side of the
channel in this section above Univ. Blvd.

*This has recently been rectified by raising the
pipe.

~

6

~

b,

Extent of Flooding

( 1) Colfax to South Platte River

Extensive flooding takes place on each side
of Cherry Creek in this section due to the
channel overbank areas sloping down away
from the channel. The effect of this
condition is that flooding occuring at isola-
ted points does not return to the channel to
form a broad flood plain. The depths of
flooding in this section will vary from one
to three feet,

( 2) Sunken Gardens

Flooding in this section will cause the
inundation of the Sunken Gardens,

( 3) Broadway to First Avenue

The overflow which occurs at First Avenue,
Grant, Logan, and Clarkson causes ex-
tensive flooding on the north side of Cherry
Creek, again due to the overbank areas
sloping down away from the channel. The
water leaving the channel in this section
flows outside the channel until it is divert-
ed into the channel at Broadway. The
depth of flooding on the north side will
reach approximately four feet, but will
generally average two feet.
