~
1

2

As a result of updated topographic information, the split flow shown on the
effective FIRM has been eliminated. As a result of the channel improvements,
the base (lOO-year) flood elevations (BFEs) decrease by a maximum of 11 feet.
The Special Flood Hazard Area increases and decreases, but all increases are
contained in the channel. The floodway also increases and decreases
throughout this revised reach. All affected property owners have been
notified by mail of the revision.

The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel
0154 C, Profile Panels 15P and l6P, and the Floodway Data Table for
Cottonwood Creek. This LOMR hereby revises this panel of the effective FIRM
dated March 2, 1989, and the Flood Profiles and Floodway Data Table in the
FIS report dated September 30, 1992. Due to the channel improvements, the
stream length has been shortened. To account for the difference, an equality
is shown on Profile Panel 16P and the Floodway Data Table at Cross Section W.

The following table is a partial listing of existing and modified BFEs:

Existing BFE Modified BFE
Location (feet>* (feet)*
Approximately 2,180 feet downstream
of Union Boulevard 6,460 6,449
Approximately 2,000 feet downstream
of Union Boulevard 6,461 6,459
Approximately 1,000 feet downstream
of Union Boulevard 6,481 6,473
Approximately 800 feet downstream
of Union Boulevard 6,483 6,483

*Referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum, rounded to the nearest
whole foot

Public notification of the proposed modified BFEs will be given in the
Gazette TeleRraDh on or about August 4 and August 11, 1994. A copy of this
notification is enclosed. In addition, a notice of changes will be published
in the Federal ReRister. We encourage you to supplement this notification by
preparing an article for publication in your community newspaper. This
article should describe the changes that have been made and the assistance
your community will give in providing data and interpreting the NFIP maps.
Because this LOMR will not be printed and distributed to users such as
insurance agents and lenders, your community will serve as a repository for
the new data.

The revisions are effective as of the date of this letter; however, within 90
days of the second publication in the Gazette TeleRraDh, a citizen' may
request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reconsider the
determination made by this LOMR. Any request for reconsideration must be
based on scientific or technical data. All interested parties are on notice
that, until the 90-day period elapses, the determination to modify the BFEs
presented in this LOMR may itself be modified.
