Tom, this paragraph needs a little <br /> <br />help; gage will provide valuable info on time to peak (being after 7 days, it takes more time to <br /> <br />access the data; we need to get data for other downstream gages on the Big Thompson to assess <br /> <br />traveltime and peak flow attenuation.] <br /> <br />Peak discharges in streams draining the 2000 Bobcat wildfire area were compared with peak <br /> <br /> <br />( /J discharges In the Buffalo Creek basin, which had a wildfire in 1996, resulting from numerous <br /> <br />t,y, <br />"? rainstorms (figure 4). The Bobcat burn did not burn uniformly, but rather was a mosaic of <br /> <br />severely to unburned areas. Flood runoff is similar for the Buffalo Creek and Bocat burned <br /> <br />areas that had similar rainfall amounts/durations (figure 4). Rainfall runoff data from the <br /> <br />2000 High Meadow, Colorado, and Cerra Grande, Los Alamos, burned areas also is similar to <br /> <br />Bobcat flooding, but not shown. <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />The Bobcat fire affected the watershed differently than the 1996 Buffalo Creek wildfire, the <br /> <br />rainfall runoff relations may be different, particularly in terms of nalural watershed recovery <br /> <br />5 <br />
